RETIRED JERSEY CEREMONY FOR JOHNSON AND BARRECA

Seniors Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca were given the highest honor when their jerseys were retired by the Shore Regional Board of education.Numbers 24 (Johnson) and 18 ( Barreca) were retired at a special ceremony for achieving first team All America status. The neighbors and best friends were 2 of the 16 named to the first team. Junior Shannon Johnson was named 3rd team All America and will have her jersey retired after completing her senior year in 2012.

There have been 15 All Americans for Shore Field Hockey which is the highest honor you can receive.

Barreca, Johnson and Johnson named to All State

Seniors Hannah Barreca and Aileen Johnson have been named first team All State and junior Shannon Johnson was voted second team All State after leading their team to a 25 and 1 record and the Group I State Championship.

Aileen had 61 goals and 30 assists, Hannah scored 34 goals and 24 assists while Shannon recorded 13 shutouts and had 17 saves in the Game of the Year against Oak Knoll as Shore won the sectional Championsip, a necessary step to the Group I State Championship.

Senior Alyssa Ercolino was named to the All State Group I first team along with Aileen, Hannah and Shannon while teammates Heidi Schaffner was voted to the second team and junior Katie Aitkens and sophomore Carol Middough were awarded 3rd team honors.

Heidi, Alyssa, Hannah, Aileen and Shannon were recently named to first team All Shore and Katie Aitkens and Gina Ruscil were voted to the Coaches all Division team, along with the five first teamers.

SHORE SENIORS COMMIT TO NEXT LEVEL

We are sad to see them go but proud to announce that 4 Shore seniors have verbally committed to play collegiate hockey in the fall of 2012. The Shore program has been blessed with the talents of Hannah Barreca, Alyssa Ercolino, Aileen Johnson and Heidi Schaffner. They have set new standards for the Shore program , concentrating on hockey year round achieving their goals with an outstanding work ethic.

All Americans Aileen and Hannah will be Blue Devils for life as they will be joining former Shore All American Brenna Rescigno at Duke University. Alyssa Ercolino will be following in the footsteps of coaches Kelly Balady, Kristen McConville and Enza Mazza as she takes a short trip to Monmouth University swapping her royal and white for the navy and white going from a Devil to a Hawk. And Heidi Schaffner will be traveling to Long Island to attend C.W. Post University and she will be wearing the green and gold to become an Ocelot. WHAT'S AN OCELOT?

Shore seniors lead team to 4 Championships

With a fantastic 24 and 1 record seniors, Aileen Johnson, Hannah Barrecca, Nicole Bocco, Alyssa Ercolino and Heidi Schaffner leave the Shore program with 4 Championships this year and 12 during their 4 years. More importantly they have made the players around them better players and better teammates. Their dedication to the game and To each other was a pleasure to watch.

During the 2011 season the Now or Never team won the program's 41st straight Division Title, the 17th Shore Conference Tournament Title, the 23rd State Sectional Championship and a 12th State Group Championship. The crowning achievement was a 2 to 1 victory over the number 1 team in New Jersey, Oak Knoll, snapping their 49 game win streak and paving the way for the Group 1 State Championship. Shannon Johnson was the star of the game rejecting 17 shots, some in spectacular fashion.

Congratulations to all of the players and we wish the very best to our seniors who will always remain a part of this program. Thank you for playing with Pride, Intensity and always putting the team ahead of yourselves.

You will cherish these memories forever, and so will your family and friends. And to put it in the words of Hannah .1..2..3...SHORE!!!! God Bless and Take Care.

2011 UNDEFEATED STATE CHAMPIONS...IT'S NOW !

With the stands packed with family, friends and faithful field hockey alumni, the Blue Devils left nothing in doubt, scoring 4 times in the first half as Shore garnered its 12 th Group State Championship with an 8-0 victory over Schalick High School. The Blue Devils played fantastically, firing on all cylinders and assuring there would be no letdown

Led by senior captains, Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca Shore pummeled the Schalick goalie with 39 shots and the defense held the visitors to 1 shot ending a run that started 2 weeks ago with a State Championship. This was the primary goal of this team since the beginning of the season. They would not be denied outscoring their opponents 40 to 3.

Aileen led all scorers with 4 goals getting the game winner 10 minutes into the game. Hannah Barreca had 1 goal and 2 assists, senior Alyssa Ercolino had 2 goals and junior Gina Ruscil scoring the final goal, one that may have earned her a car...will that be a Mercedes or a Land
Rover !!!!!!!

Shore gets a bonus week as they play in the Tournament of Champions, starting with West Essex, the Group 2 champion, Wednesday at 4 o'clock in Robbinsville.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the players. You have continued to bring pride to Shore Regional, your family and most importantly to your team. Your hard work and dedication is second to none. The memories you have gathered along the way will last a lifetime.

Ercolino, Johnson lead Shore to Group Finals

Despite having a 34 to 4 edge in shots and a 32 to 4 edge in corners The Blue Devils eked out a 3 to 2 win taking them to their 14th State Final. Shore is 11 and 2 in finals, their only losses to Madison and Pingry in 95 and 2001 . Shore will meet the South Jersey cinderella team Shalick at 4 pm on Sunday at Toms River East.

Shore came out on fire scoring in the first 2 minutes with Alyssa Ercolino taking a pass from Aileen Johnson but left the ball on the goalie 4 more times before scoring a second goal at 11:59 on a Toni Roma to Alyssa Ercolino connection to give Shore a 2 -0 edge at the half but completely dominating the game.

But give the Mountain Lakes seniors credit. the 16 strong did not give up, they came out and scored in the 34 th minute cutting the score to a 1 goal game. Shore continued to generate the attack and dominate the midfield but came up empty as the Mountain Lakes circle defense was determined to go down fighting. At the 49th minute Aileen Johnson executed a perfect penalty stroke,for her 57th goal and give Shore some breathing room but not for long. Undaunted by the score The Lakers scored again on only it's second shot of the half to cut the lead to 3 to 2 with8 minutes remaining. Shore held onto the win as Barreca and Johnson took control and ran out the clock.

Shore ran it's record to 23 and 0 and the Lakers dropped to 17 and 5 disappointed but proud of the effort.

Shore's last State Championship was in 2009 where seniors Johnson, Ercolino and Barreca helped the team to an8-0 win over Holy Cross.

Good Luck Shore, the mark of a great team is when they can win even when they play poorly. It's Now or Never!

Middough, Johnson and Johnson lead Shore to Sectional Championship

Sophomore Carol Middough and sisters Aileen and Shannon Johnson led Shore (22-0) to the North 2 Sectional State Championship with a come from behind 2 to 1 victory over previously unbeaten Oak Knoll. Oak Knoll was the winner of 49 straight wins with Shore Regional being the last team to beat them in 2009.

After playing a tentative first half and giving up an early goal, Shore came out a different team outshooting Oak Knoll 7 to 6 and forcing 11 corners, scoring on 2 of them less than 1:30 apart to take the lead with 9 minutes left in the game.

Aileen Johnson scored her 56 th goal of the season on a feed from Carol Middough to tie the game with 10:56 to play. Less than a minute later Middough put the Blue Devils up for good on an assist from sophomore Grace Santi. On the other end of the field Shore keeper Shannon Johnson recorded save after save, getting 17 for the day as Oak Knoll outshot. Shore 18 to 7.

Great defense was played by Hannah Barreca, Katie Aitkens, Heidi Schaffner and Michaela Curtis as Shore roadblocked every attempt by Oak Knoll in the second half.

Shore never gave up and the Blue Devils continued to work hard even with time running out. Teamwork and being first to the ball changed the course of the game as Aileen and Hannah continued to break down the Oak Knoll defense.

Shore will play in the state semi finals this Thursday, place and opponent to be announced.

CONGRATULATIONS this is one of the top wins in the 42 years history of SHORE 's program. Shannon will proudly wear THE SHIRT on Wednesday as the MVP of the game.

SHORE SENIORS LEAD WIN FOR FINAL HOME GAME

After a scoreless 15 minutes Shore scored 5 times in the next 14:44 to set up a Sectional final of the number 1 and number 4 teams in the state. Shore will travel to Oak Knoll on Monday for the Sectional showdown that wil be billed as the premier game of the 2011 season. Oak Knoll is the reining TOC Champion of 2010.

Alyssa Ercolino got the game winner off a Grace Santi assist, and the Blue Devils never looked back. Aileen Johnson led all scorers with 4 goals to boost her goals to an amazing 55 on the season, which is an incredible number for a mid. Toni Roma added 2 goals and Hannah Barreca, the Shore sparkplug scored unassisted. Barreca is always in the mix as she added 2 assists.

Shore outshot the number 3 seed 34 to 6 with Shannon Johnson getting 6 saves. Shore seniors, Aileen Johnson, Hannah Barreca, Heidi Schaffner, Alyssa Ercolino and Nicole Bocco wore their white shirts for their final game on Shore's field. The seniors have only lost 2 games on this field in their four years of play. Congratulations girls you have played with PRIDE and INTENSITY now lets keep it going.

Shore ran its record to 21 and 0 and sents home Florence with a 16 and 4 record. The Shore defense led by Barreca, Santi and Schaffner sent the states second leading goal scorer home empty. Great job ladies.

AILEEN JOHNSON SETS SCORING RECORD IN STATE WIN

Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca finished with 4 goals apiece in an 11-2 quarterfinal win over Bordentown. Johnson set the school season scoring record ( 51 Goals) with her third goal and added to it with a beautiful penalty stroke ( do over) for her fourth goal as she eclipsed the 2002 record by Amanda Arnold. Amanda was an All American who went on to play for Ohio University.

Alyssa Ercolino scored twice, Toni Roma added a goal and Shannon Johnson recorded 7 saves as the Blue Devils outshot the Eagles 29 to 9. Carol Middough, Hannah Barreca, Grace Santi and Molly ONeill had assists on the day as Shore now advances to the sectional semi-final on Friday at 2pm for the last home game for our five seniors.

Shore's record stands at 20 and 0 and Shore has outscored their opponents 183 to 13.

Hannah Barreca will wear the MVP shirt proudly at the smart school. Congrats and good luck Shore !

LUCKY NUMBER 13

The teams captains from Freehold Boro showed up wearing headbands with lucky #13 written on them. If it was supposed to taunt or intimidate the Blue Devils it did just the opposite. Shore came out playing inspired hockey scoring in the first 3 minutes and forcing the Colonials to play primarily a defensive game the rest of the way.

Senior, Alyssa Ercolino had the game winner on an assist from the omnipresent Hannah Barreca to give Shore it's 13 th straight and 17th overall title as Shore has dominated SCT play for the 26 years it has been in existence. The Blue Devils have appeared in 20 finals 4 semifinals and only twice have bowed out in earlier rounds. Great defense was played but Michaela Curtis and Katie Aitkens stood out each making defensive save and Shannon Johnson shut out Freehold for the first time all season. Shannon had 7 saves 2 on spectacular sliding tackles to send Freehold home for the second year in a row.

Shore outshot Boro 12 to 7 with Hannah Barreca and Aileen Johnson working the midfield to perfection. The Blue Devils Played with pride and intensity and sent the large Blue Devil crowd home happy after witnessing a great high school hockey game.

Johnson breaks school record as Shore rolls in States

Despite sitting out her entire junior year, senior mid Aileen Johnson eclipsed the school career scoring record with 6 goals, bringing her total to 93 for her career. The record was held by Jessica Coleman (1996) who went on to play for the University of Virginia and the U.S. National team.

Shore barely missed another school record, scoring just 13 seconds into the game on an Alyssa Ercolino to Kara Casale connection. The school record is 10 seconds from a center pass by Heddy SAMs who played for Rutgers University. Sophomore Carol Middough got the game winner 3 minutes later on a pass from Aileen Johnson and the Blue Devils added 8 more goals before the end of the half. Johnson led all scores with 6 goals and 1 assist all in the first half.

Also scoring for Shore was Kara Casale with 2 goals, Carol Middough, Toni Roma and Molly ONeill each with a goal. Assists: Alyssa Ercolino had 3 assists, while Johnson, Barreca, Santi and Roma each had single tallies.

Shore outshot the Admirals 34 to 4 with Shannon Johnson and Hannah Stone each getting a save.

Sophomore Michaela Curtis won the MVP shirt for the game with her hustle and teamwork and will be wearing it proudly on Monday at school.

Shore will defend it's Shore Conference Title against Freehold tomorrow at 1pm in Holmdel, before getting back to state action on Tuesday versus Bordentown 2pm at Shore.

Shore rolls into finals....for 13th straight year

Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca put on a clinic as Shore rolled over Rumson 8 to 0 to make it into the Shore Conference Finals for the 13 straight year and 19 of the 26 years they have held the tournament. Aileen got the game winner just 5 minutes into the game from a Carol Middough assist and the defense led by Heidi Schaffner shut down any Rumson attack for the entire 60 minutes.

5 different Shore players scored with Barreca and Johnson getting 2 apiece as the Devils ran up a 3 to 0 halftime score. Shore outshot Rumson 20 to 2 with Shannon Johnson getting 2 saves.

Shore uses team effort in rolling over Middletown North

Taking advantage of the Lions defense, Shore had 5 different players score to register a win and send the Blue Devils to the semifinals of the Shore Conference Tournament for the 13th straight season. In recording a 5 1 win Shore won their 50th straight SCT game a conference record by a lot.

With Middletown playing a totally defensive system Shore had many near misses before registering the opening goal at 14:52 by sophomore Carol Middough from a Molly ONeill assist. Alyssa Ercolino got the game winner assisted by Aileen Johnson 1 minute later. Hannah Barreca made it 3 0 at the half scoring unassisted at 28:16.

Shore continued their scoring with Aileen Johnson putting the ball in the back of the net, unassisted at 36:45 before junior Kara Casale closed out the scoring on an assist by Hannah Barreca making the score 5 to 0 . Shore had 3 goals called back before the lions registered a late goal off a penalty corner at 59:59.

Aileen and Hannah were everywhere as the Lions strategy to clog the middle and try to shut them down left more passing lanes open and the dynamic duo moved the ball around until they found the open passing lanes. Shore,s defense was almost perfect as they outshot the Lions 30 to 1, giving up the only shot on the buzzer.

Heidi Schaffner will wear the MVP shirt proudly to school as her defensive stepping ups kept the Middletown offense at bay.

Shore will play Rumson in the semi finals for the 4th straight year in a 5:00 showdown at Holmdel on Tuesday at. 5:00.

Middough leads Shore past Red Bank Catholic

Sophomore Carol Middough had a natural hat trick as the Blue Devils blew by the Caseys 9 to 1 in an opening round of the Shore Conference Tournament. After having 2 goals called back on mystery calls Shore scored early and often, holding a 5 to 0 lead at the half. Middough opened the scoring just 6:54 into the game off an Aileen Johnson assist. Johnson followed with the game winner at 10:54 with Hannah Barreca getting the assist.

The Caseys dropped back into defensive mode the rest of the game getting just 2 shots off the tough Devil defense. Middough added 2 more goals at 27:48 and 42:41. Hannah Barreca added 2 goals and Aileen Johnson added a second goal. Molly ONeill added a goal and 2 assists and Alyssa Ercolino added a goal and received the MVP shirt for her hustle and team play.

Shore moves into the quarterfinals with a home game on Friday against Middletown North a 2 to 1 winner over Central. It was Centrals first loss of the season as Monmouth County teams continue to dominate play in the Shore.

The junior varsity team finished up with a 13 and 0 record for a well earned undefeated season.

The freshman entered the Monmouth County Freshman Tournament as last seed but knocked off first seed Wall in double overtime. Congrats to all of the young Blue Devils.

SHORE DOMINATES PEDDIE

Outshooting them 21 to 3, Shore passed a major hurdle today by beating Peddie in Hightstown 4 to 1. Leading the way for Shore was the dynamic duo, Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca who completely dominated the midfield and hooked up to score 3 goals between them. Senior Alyssa Ercolino, added the other goal with Johnson getting a goal and 3 assists, Barreca scored 2 goals and Carol Middough collected an assist.

Junior Katie Aitkens and sophomore Michaela Curtis played outstanding perimeter defense as Shore shut down the Peddie attack. Playing an all out endline to endline game was Hannah Barreca who will be wearing the MVP shirt in smart school tomorrow.

Shore is 14 and 0 on the season and will begin defense of their 2010 SCT title Tuesday, 3:30 at Shore. The Blue Devils will play the winner of tomorrows RBC- St Rose game.

Congrats Shore Blue Devils on a great regular season run. Shore has outscored their opponents 110 to 5.

SHORE FINISHES UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE

Shore beat Henry Hudson 8 to 1 yesterday and finished undefeated in division play while winning their 41st division title.

Toni Roma got the game winner and Aileen Johnson
scored 6 times. Molly ONeill added a goal as the Blue Devils overcame extreme field and official issues while running their record to 13 and 0.
Hannah Barreca had 2 assists and Carol Middough added 3 assists and the Devils outshot the Admirals 35 to 3.

Shannon Johnson had 2 saves and Aileen took home the MVP shirt.

Shore travels to Peddie for a non conference matchup on Thursday and then will start Shore Conference Tournament play on Tuesday. Shore will play the winner of St Rose and RBC at 3:45 at Shore.i

Shore won it's 41st straight division championship with a 6 to o shutout of Mater Dei. Kara Casale and Molly ONeill each had 2 goals as Shore ran it's record to 12 and 0.

Senior mids Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca each scored a goal and Aileen, Hannah and Carol Middough added assists on the day.

Shore outshot Mater Dei 30 to 2 with junior keep SHannon Johnson recording her 9 th shutout for the season.

MVP on the day, Molly O Neill worked hard in the circle to score Shore,s only 2 goals of the second half.

The Blue Devils wrap up conference play as they travel to Henry Hudson tomorrow.

The Devils have a key matchup on Thursday as they travel to Peddie before starting Shore Conference Tournament play next week.

Senior mid, Aileen Johnson, scored 4 goals and added an assist as Shore downed North Jersey power Madison 6 to 3. in West Long Branch.
Shore's potent offense opened up a 5 to 1 lead at the half and finished with 24 shots on goal. Johnson had the lone goal in the second half at the 42nd mark. Little sister, Shannon had 5 saves on 9 shots as Shore registered their 11th win of the season.. Madison gave Shore all it could handle as they scored 2 goals in the second half but Shore behind the defense of Heidi Schaffner, Michaela Curtis, Katie Aitkens and Hannah Barreca held on for the victory.

Hannah Barreca and Alyssa Ercolino also scored with Carol Middough and Aileen getting assists.

Michaela Curtis was game MVP for outstanding defense...... making big plays when it counted.

Behind the 5 save shutout by junior, Shannon Johnson, Shore rolled to it's 10th win of the season by beating St Rose of Belmar 11-0. The win enabled Shore to clinch at least a tie for the conference with 2 games remaining. Shore's conference record is 6 and 0 and they have a 2 game lead over the Purple Roses.

Shannon's older sister Aileen hat her fourth hat trick on the year, scoring all 3 goals in the first half and adding an assist. Senior mid, Hannah Barreca had the game winner, her fifth in 10 games, 4 :45 into the game. Aileen Johnson had the assist. Hannah ( Rosa), also had 3 assists for her 30 minutes of play.

Junior, Toni Roma scored 2 goals, and Carol Middough, Kara Casale, Grace Santi, Molly Oneill and Baily Bestle each tallied single goals. Alyssa Ercolino had 2 assists connecting on 2 tranistion goals with Toni Roma.

SHORE A STEP CLOSER TO DIVISIONAL TITLE

The Blue Devils took a step closer to an unpcedented 41st straight divisional title with a 13 -0 shutout of the Admirals of Henry Hudson. Senior mid Aileen Johnson got the game winner off a Carol Middough assist just 19 seconds into the game. The talented midfielder, who has accepted an athletic scholarship to Duke tallied 2 more goals and 2 assists before sitting out the entire second half. Aileen's mirror image, Hannah Barreca had a hat trick for the third time this season plus an assist,also sat and cheered her young teammates in the second half. Hannah too, has accepted an  athletic scholarship to Duke University next fall.

The young Devils continued to play hard, taking 40 shots on the Admiral defense while limiting the opponent to only 4 shots. Also scoring was junior Kara Casale with 2 goals, and Molly Oneill, Toni Roma, Katie Mannino , Bailey Bestle and Kasey Ronan with a goal a piece. Katie and Kasey scored their first varsity goals.

Shannon Johnson came up with 4 saves on 4 shots as the junior keeper played her 9th game, with only 1 goal against. Heidi Schaffner was the game MVP, with her overall hustle and cheering for her teammates when she left the game.

Shore will have 3 games left in the conference with Mater Dei and St Rose next week. Shore could clinch the division title with wins over both.

The Shore jv also remained undefeated with a rain shortened 5 to 0 win over Hudson.

The Blue Devils went 8 and 0 on the season with a 12 to 0 score over the Raiders of Keyport. Shore scored early and often with 6 different players tallying goals led by senior mid Hannah Barreca who scored her second hat trick of the year and got the game winner just 1:52 into the game.

Shore got a step closer to their 41st straight divisional title going 4 and 0 in the conference with 4 games left. Shore has a 2 game lead over the Purple Roses from St Rose. Shore's defense held the visitors to no shots on goal while blasting the Keyport goalie with 43 shots. The defense led by Heidi Schaffner, Katie Aitkens, Morgan Jones, Grace Santi and Michaela Curtis smothered Keyport in midfield and did not allow them any attempts on goal.

Mids, Hannah Barreca, Aileen Johnson and Gina Ruscil kept the offense going with timely passes to forwards, Alyssa Ercolino, Toni Roma, Molly ONeill, Kara Casale and Carol Middough.

Carol Middough got the game shirt as she started her first game of the season after recovering from a pre season injury. Carol scored 2 goals and looks to have returned to last seasons form.

Aileen Johnson celebrated her eighteenth birthday with her third hat trick of the season as Shore downed St Rose 6 to 0. Sophomore Grace Santi got the game winner 3:40 into the game off a pass from Hannah Barreca. Johnson then followed with the first of 3 at the 18:50 mark. Shore scored 2 more times before the half ended with Alyssa Ercolino scoring from seven yards out from a Johnson assist at 26:44 and at 27:35 Johnson scored her second goal of the game giving Shore a commanding 4 0 lead at the half.

Aileen opened up the second half with an unassisted goal at 36;22 and Kara Casale finished the scoring at 54:38 on a 5 yard score.

Shore oushot the Purple Roses 34 to 6 with Shannon Johnson getting 6 saves. Junior Morgan Jones hustles her way to the MVP award of the game.

The Shore JV remained undefeated outscoring St Rose 8 to 1.

Next door neighbors , best of friends, and Blue Devils for life Hannah and "A" each had a hat trick as Shore downed Mater Dei 9 - 0 in West Long Branch today.

Getting the game winner just 1:24 into the game Aileen Johnson, off a pass from junior Kara Casale, led the way in a conference showdown. Shore ran its record to 6-0 and Mater Dei dropped to 1 and 4.

Senior Alyssa Ercolino followed Aileen with a goal and 2 assists. Kara Casale also had a goal to add to her 2 assists.

Junior Bailey Bestle had a goal and Hannah Barreca added 3 goals to bring her total to 12 on the year.

The Blue Devils outshot the Seraphs 25 to 0 with Shannon Johnson getting the shutout.

Shore will travel to St Rose on Wednesday for its third conference match. The junior varsity remained undefeated as they beat Mater Dei 7 to 0.

Shore's defense held Rumson to 2 shots and Aileen Johnson and Hannah Barreca took care of offensive business as Shore Regional, number 1 in the Shore, handed Rumson their first home loss in 2 years. The Blue Devils got on the board in the second minute of play on a perfectly executed corner from Alyssa Ercolino to Grace Santi and then blasted by Hannah Barreca for her 9th goal of the season.

Hannah got the game winner in the 8th minute on a breakaway to make the score 2 to 1. Senior mid "A" Johnson scored on a feed from Barreca,to make the score three to 1 at the half.

In the second half Rumson packed it in and played prevent defense with Shore barely missing on several occasions. Junior forward Kara Casale broke through early for her first goal of the year to make the score 4 to 1.

Shore outshot the Bulldogs 15 to 2 with junior keeper, Shannon Johnson getting 1 save for the win. Shore's record is now 5 and 0 with 3 key conference match ups next week.

Shore recorded their 3rd consecutive shutout as they beat Keyport 6 to 0 for their first conference win. Toni Roma got the game winner 8:36 into the game on an assist from Aileen Johnson and the Blue Devils scored 5 more before the half ended.

Senior mid Hannah Barreca had 2 goals, mid AIleen Johnson scored 2 goals and an 2 assists and Toni Roma added a second goal as Shore has outscored their opponents 31 to 1 this season.

Shannon Johnson recorded the shutout with 1 save as Shore outshot the Red Raiders 25 to 1. Shore travels to Rumson for a top ten matchup this Friday.

Shore senior midfielder, Aileen," Paula" Johnson scored 4 goals as Shore won it's third game in 6 days. Playing in the worst field conditions a Shore team has played in 10 years Shore held group III Jackson Liberty, to 1 shot on goal while pounding the Jackson keeper with 25 shots.

Johnson got her first goal and game winner just 2:31 into the game. Shore then scored four more before the half ended with Johnson scoring a hat trick. Senior mid, Hannah Barreca and junior Toni Roma each added goals in the first half with Hannah adding 2 assists.

The second half was much the same with Johnson opening up the scoring on an unassisted goal, followed by Barreca, Roma and sophomore mid Grace Santi adding 2 goals. Bailey Bestle, Alyssa Ercolino and Roma each had assists in the second half

Shore has a quick turn around as they hop back on the bus to travel to Keyport for their first conference match of the season. Game time is 4:00..if the bus shows up on time!

Shore's defense was smothering as they did not allow any shots for the first 55 minutes. A combined effort led by Heidi Schaffner and the hustling Gina Ruscil was too much for the Jackson team to handle. Shannon Johnson recorded the shutout having to make only 1 save on the day.

Ercolino sparks Shore to win over South Plainfield 8-0

Senior forward, Alyssa "Pop Tart" Ercolino scored a career high 4 goals as Shore won it's second game in as many days. Shore's offense didn't waste anytime as senior mid, Hannah "Beyonce" Barreca got the game winner just 44 seconds into the game. Alyssa followed with her first goal just 4 minutes later and Shore never looked back.

Sophomore Molly ONeill scored 2 goals on assists from Grace Santi and Ercolino and senior mid Aileen Johnson added a goal to bring her total to 3 on the young season. Barreca, Kara Casale and Johnson also had assists in the contest.

For the second game in a row Shore's keeper, Shannon Johnson saw no action as the Blue Devils defense kept South Plainfield from taking any shots. Led by Heidi Schaffner, Katie Aitkens and Michaela Curtis Shore's backs continually shut down any attack and handed the ball off to Shore's 2 talented midfielders, Hannah Barreca and Aileen Johnson who set the table for Shore's attack.

Shore did a great job of moving the ball around looking for offensive space and tranistioning back on defense to thwart any attack

Shore will be on the road early next week as they travel to Jackson Liberty and Keyport before returning home Friday for a non conference top ten battle with Rumson Fair Haven.

Shore's jv beat South Plainfield 2 -0 behind goals from sophomores Taylor Mellaci and Carly Rosati. Sophomore keeper Hannah Stone recorded her second shutout on the year with 6 saves. Great job ladies.

Shore Seniors Lead Rout !

Aileen Johnson, Hannah Barreca, Alyssa Ercolino, Heidi Schaffner and Nicole Bocco set the tone for the season with an aggressive offense and an unbreakable defense with an opening day 7 to 1 victory over Group IV and defending Divison A champions Freehold Township.

Hannah Barreca got Shore on the board 16 minutes into the game, assisted by senior Alyssa Ercolino and sophomore Grace Santi off a perfectly executed corner. Mid, Aileen Johnson, waiting almost a year between goals, fittingly got the game winner a minute and a half later.

Junior, Toni Roma scored he first varsity goal, assisted by the omnipresent Ercolino at the 21 minute mark and Hannah Barreca scored her 2nd goal of the half off an Ercolino assist to close out the half.

Alyssa Ercolino opened up the second half just with her first goal to add to her 3 assists, assisted by Aileen Johnson to give Shore a commanding 5 goal lead. Aileen and Toni each added second goals assisted by Barrecca and Santi before Freehold got on the board with 1 minute left in the game

Shore's talented goalie Shannon Johnson had no saves and faced no shots as the defense led by senior, Heidi Schaffner,was relentedless and smothering. Sophomore Hannah Stone tended the goal the last 10 minutes of the game facing 1 shot.

Shore's jv beat Freehold 1 0 with Hannah Stone getting the shutout and Katie Thomasian scoring the winning goal. Newcomer Kasey Ronan was the hustler of the game.

Shore plays Middlesex power South Plainfield today in West Long Branch at 4 pm.

SHORE SET TO DEFEND TITLE

The Blue Devils field hockey team has been working hard all summer preparing to defend their division title, one they have not relinguished in 40 years. That is correct 40 years straight.! In fact in that 40 year span the Royal and White have only lost 5 conference matches.

The 2011 team will be led by senior All Americans Hannah Barreca and Aileen Johnson, both whom have committed to continue as Blue Devils at Duke University next year. Alyssa Ercolino, Heidi Schaffner and Nicole Bocco round out the senior class and will have a huge impact on this years team.

The junior class has a core of athletes that will be competitiing for roster spots with returning letterwinners: Toni Roma, Gina Ruscil, Morgan Jones, Kara Casale and All Shore Goalie Shannon Johnson. Looking to make an impact are Bailey Bestle, Katie Aitkens, Gina Jelliff and Alexa Foggia.

The sophomore class have 4 returning letterwinners: Carol Middough, Grace Santi, Molly ONeill and Michaela Curtis. Rounding out the sophs are Katie Thomasian,Hannah Stone,Carli Rosati,Nadine Pearsall,Taylor Mellaci,Sam Irace, Emma Ferroce, Kristen Dolan , Tyler Antonetti, Tiana Taylor and newcomes Kasey Ronan.

HANNAH BARRECA NAMED ALL AMERICAN

Junior midfielder, Hannah Barreca, became the 14th All American to play for Shore's program. She joins Jessica Coleman as the second Shore player to garner this award in her junior year. Junior Aileen Johnson was named an All American as a sophomore but had to sit out this year because of a knee injury. Aileen is the only sophomore from Shore's program to receive this honor.

After leading the Shore Conference in scoring and being named the Monmouth County Player of theYear, the only honor left was the coveted All American award. The junior captain led the young Blue Devils to an unprecedented 40th straight Division Championship and the 12th straight Shore Conference Tournament Title. Hannah's uniform #18 will be retired upon her graduation but until then she has her sights set on the 2011 season and some "unfinished business"

Congratulations for a well deserved honor.

REGIONAL ALL AMERICANS

The NFHCA announced that junior, Hannah Barreca and sophomore Shannon Johnson were named to the 2010 Mideast All American Regional Team. Shannon is only the second sophomore to receive this honor. Big sister Aileen was the first. The duo joins 16 other Shore players who have received this honor.

BARRECA NAMED MONMOUTH PLAYER OF YEAR

The Newark Star Ledger has named junior Hannah Barreca as the Monmouth County Player of The Year. Hannah was the leading scorer in the Shore Conference with 28 goals and 15 assists as she led the young Blue Devils to a 17 and 2 season and a 40th straight Division Title and their 16th Shore Conference Championship.

ALL SHORE HONORS GO TO 5 SHORE PLAYERS

The Asbury Park Press announced their All Shore team for the 2010 season. With 440 players eligable to receive All Shore honors, Shore names 5 on first and second team. Junior Hannah Barreca and sophomore Shannon Johnson were named as First Team ALL SHORE members ans Freshman Carol Middough and juniors, Alyssa Ercolino and Heidi Schaffner were named to the second team.

Carol Middough, Shannon Johnson, Nicole Bocco, Heidi Schaffner, Alyssa Ercolino and Hannah Barreca was named to the Shore Conference B Central all division Team.

SHORE'S AILEEN JOHNSON COMMITS TO DUKE

Junior mid, Aileen Johnson, joins former teammate Brenna Rescigno as a Blue Devil for life as she made a verbal commitment to Duke University this past weekend. Aileen's decision was based on both academics and field hockey. The talented junior narrowed her many choices down to Princeton, Duke and Maryland before giving the nod to Coach Beth Bozman.

Aileen has been a varsity starter at Shore since her freshman year and is the first freshman ever to receive All Shore First Team Honors. She also was named as a 2009 NFHCA All American as a sophomore.

Aileen scored 34 goals as a sophomore and 17 as a freshman and is currently recuperating from ACL surgery she suffered while training with the USA over 21 High Performance team.

Congratulations to Aileen and looking forward to seeing you back on the pitch as a Shore Blue Devil in 2011.

SHORE BOWS OUT OF STATE TOURNAMENT

Todays loss to Pingry will be looked back as a game of missed opportunities. Despite outshooting Pingry 14 to 8 Shore ended its season with a 3 to 2 loss. The young Devils worked its way into the circle but had trouble finishing including 2 1 on 1 plays with the Pingry goalie.

Shore scored 2 come from behind goals with freshman Carol Middough off a Hannah Barreca assist, and an unassisted goal from sophomore Kara Casale showing promising signs for the future. Shore's youth got a wealth of experience of what State Tournament games are like with a loser go home finale to every match.

Shannon Johnson had 5 saves on the day with Pingry scoring on 2 of their 3 goals on penalty corners.

Shore ends the season 17 and 2 with their 40th Division title and a 12th straight , 16th overall, Shore Conference Title. Shore received outstanding on field leadership from junior Hannah Barreca and great goal tending from sophomore Shannon Johnson to help lead the way.

After licking their wounds the young Devils will pick up their sticks and rededicate themselves to improving their individual and team play. Cant wait til next year.

Keep your heads high Shore. You will look back and realize what you accomplished this year was truly remarkable. We couldn't be prouder. Sports does not build character, it reveals it. Today we watched as you never gave up and the players left standing on the field at the final whistle gave it their all for their teammates and their colors and what was revealed was a lasting testament of a strong and unselfiish character that will carry you through a lifetime.

SHORE ROLLS IN STATE TOURNAMENT OPENER

Hannah Barreca started today where she left off in the SCT finals, by scoring the game winner just 2 minutes into the game. Shore continued its scoring and went into halftime with an 8 to 0 lead and ended with a 9 to 0 victory over the visitors of Saint Marys.

Barreca, a junior mid, had a hat trick to bring her goal total to 28 as Shore outshot St Mary's 36 to 3. Joining in the scoring was freshman Grace Santi who had 2 goals, and Erin Giles, Molly O'Neill, Alyssa Ercolino and Kara Casale each had single tallies. Carol Middough, ONeill, Ercolino and Casale all recorded single assists for the game.

Junior back, Heidi Schaffner led the team with outstanding defensive work, as the Shore Devils outhustled St Marys everywhere on the field. SCT heroine, Shannon Johnson and senior captain, Meg Garrigal shared credit for the shutout. It was Shore's 13th of the year.

Shore will meet their old nemisis, Pingry, on Friday at 2 O'clock at Shore Regional in the sectional semi-finals.

SHORE WINS 12TH STRAIGHT SCT

The Shore Regional Blue Devils went in as underdogs but played with the hearts of champions as they overcame a tremendous effort by the talented Freehold Boro Colonials to win their 12th straight Shore Conference Championship.

Hannah Barreca, a junior midfielder and Shannon Johnson, a sophomore keeper had better coverage than Verizon, shutting down Boro's attack time and again, through execution and hustle. No one gave the young Devils a shot, seeding them 4th but the upstarts proved them wrong with 60 minutes of hard fought hockey. For the second game in a row Shore gave up the lead only to regain it in the final minutes. Shore outshot Freehold 10 to 8 with Shannon Johnson getting 7 saves for the victory.

Boro controlled the midfield but the Devils executed where it counted, in the circle. Shannon Johnson came up with big saves including a one handed stick save to shut down and shut out Boros talented Emily Wold. Meanwhile,Hannah Barreca was taking care of the other end, dishing out one assist and scoring the game winner with just under 2 minutes left in the game.

The diminutive Barreca was everywhere on the field and displayed the talent that makes her one of the best high school defenders in the country. Shannon Johnson who saw little action during the regular season showed why she is the best goalie in the state. Johnson stopped direct shots, played the ball with her stick and seemed to swallow up everything Boro offered. Carol Middough a freshman forward, scored Shore's first goal and Middough combined with freshman Grace Santi to assist Hannah on the game winner.

Shore has been to the SCT final 19 out of the 25 years it has been played. For a Group I school, their record is phenominal. It has won 16 out of those 19, losing 1 in a tiebreaker and the other two by one goal.
Congratulations Shore, this is the best and most rewarding Championship ever. They doubted us, cause they looked at our record, next time look at our HEART.

In spite of all that the young Blue Devils hung tough and beat the undefeated Crimson Knights from Wall 3 to 2 to advance to the finals of the Shore Conference Tournament for the 12th straight year. Shore will enter the game at 15 and 1.

Barreca and Johnson sounds like a great investment firm,,,well the young Devils invested their fortune with them and struck gold as the dynamic duo lead the way to victory. Hannah, a junior mid scored 2 goals and played great defense and Shannon Johnson stepped out of the shadows of older sister Aileen to give Wall their first loss of the season.

The duo was not without help as freshman Carol Middough scored the game winner at the 56 minute mark after assisting on Barreca's 2 goals. Shore was outshot for the first time all season 15 to 9 but Johnson came up big...with 9 saves.

Shore will meet Freehold Boro on Wed at Rumsom at 3pm for the bragging rights of the Shore Conference. Good Luck we know you will play hard and make us proud.

SHORE PLAYS INTO SEMI FINALS

The young Blue Devils spent 60 minutes working hard against Rumson and were rewarded with a 2 to 0 victory, making it into the Shore Conference Tournament semis for the 12th year in a row.

Freshman Carol Middough got the game winner just 10 minutes into the game and freshman Molly ONeill got the insurance goal with 2 seconds left in the first half to give Shore the momentum. Molly gave an all out effort extending herself to the goal line to tip in her 8th goal of the year.

Shore's defense was up to the task as they shut out Rumson, their 12th of the year and did not allow a shot on goal. Hannah Barreca seemed to be everywhere as she led the defense to shutting down any attack Rumson tried to mount. Rumson never got a shot off on goal.

Shore will now have a rematch of the past 2 years finals with Shore winning both outscoring Wall 9 to 1. This game will be the 2 best teams in the Shore but has to be played as a semi because of the poor seeding .

SHORE WINS 45TH TOURNAMENT GAME IN A ROW

Shore opened up a 3 to 0 halftime lead and finished with a 4 to 0 victory as they recorded an unprecedented 45th Shore Conference Tournament game in a row. Shore's last loss in the prestigious SCT was a 1 to 0 loss in the opening round to Southern Regional in 1998. Since then the Shore Blue Devils have won 11 straight Championships.

Hannah Barreca led the Shore offense with 2 goals and 1 assist, as she recorded the game winner just 6 minutes into the game. Erin Giles , the lone senior starter for the young Blue Devils scored to make it 2 to 0 on an assist from Barreca and freshman Molly ONeill added her 7th goal on the year on an assist from Kara Casale. Freshman Carol Middough had the assist on Hannah's first goal.

Shore outshot Barnegat 25 to 1 with Shannon Johnson and Meg Garrigal recorded their 11th shutout on the year. Johnson had one save on the day.

Shore will meet Rumson for the 5th year in a row in the quarterfinals on Friday at 3:45.

SHORE FINISHES UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Shore wrapped up an undefeated season in B Central with a rain shortened 4 to 0 win over Saint Rose. Usually the nicest grass pitch in the state is a welcome relief from most grass fields but today it played more like an Ice hockey arena. In spite of that, freshman Carol Middough scored the game winner on the first of her 2 goals just 12 minutes into the match.

Middough's goals were followed by single tallies by freshamn Molly ONeill and junior Hannah Barreca. All of the goals were unassisted. Shore outshot St Rose 14 to 9 with Shannon Johnson getting 7 saves and Meg Garrigal getting 1.

Shore will now enter the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Tuesday against the winner of Friday's Toms River North v Barnegat game.

The second round will be played on Friday at the higher seed.

BARRECA STARS IN SHORE LOSS

Despite a painful 2 to 1 loss to number one prep school Peddie, junior Hannah Barreca showed why she is one of the top juniors in the country with an all around great effort. Barreca scored Shore's lone goal with 9 minutes left in the game on an assist from Carol Middough but her greatest effort was her all around play in midfield and on defense as she shut down one of the states top scorers.

Shore was outshot for the first time all season 9 to 6 but managed to take a 1 to 0 lead with 2 : 20 left on the clock when a BOGUS stroke was called on sophomore goalie Shannon Johnson. The rule states that a player , in this case the goalie, cannot prevent the other team from playing the ball by covering it. On a diagonal shot Shannon dove to her right with the ball hitting her in the chest and falling to the ground in front of her. Before Shannon could play the ball the referee who was behind the play called for a penalty stroke. The ball was visible the entire time. In spite of a great effort by Johnson ,Peddies senior mid put the shot past her right side, but she was gracious enough to admit it was a gift given by the poorly schooled but hopefully non biased official.

Shore has to regroup in 24 hours as St Rose will be their next opponent as Shore finishes out their conference play.

Shore plays Tuesday in the first round of the Shore Conference vs either Barnegat or Toms River North. Shore has won the conference 15 times and 11 straight.

Freshman Carol Middough scored a hat trick as Shore recorded their 9th shutout with an 8 to 0 victory over the Admirals of Henry Hudson. The victory gave Shore an unprecedented fourtieth straight Division title. Also scoring was Alyssa Ercolino, with 2 goals and single tallies were registered by Grace Santi, Angelica Ciaglia and Molly Oneill. Oneill and Santi also recorded assists .

Shore had an offensive onslaught as they outshot the Admirals 45 to 1. Shannon Johnson and Meg Garrigal tended goal with Garrigal getting credit for 1 save.

Shore had 4 Freshman contribute in todays game, Grace Santi had an outstanding game in the midfield both offensively and defensively and Carol Middough scored 3 goals for Shore. Molly Oneill scored a goal and Michaela Curtis played outstanding defense.

Shore has outshot their opponents 238 to 27 so far this season.

Alyssa Ercolino ( Pop Tart) led the Blue Devils to their tenth straight win and 8th shutout with a 4 - 0 whitewashing of the Raiders of Keyport. After Hannah Barreca got the game winner at 24:09 of the first half, Ercolino broke the game open with 2 goal inside of two minutes of the second half to put the game away for the young but hungry Royal and White.

Also scoring for Shore was freshman forward Carol Middough with a goal from an Ercolino assist 45 minutes into the game. Shore had an overall great effort from the Devil defense led by Grace Santi, Heidi Schaffner, Morgan Jones, Nicole Bocco and Michaela Curtis. Keepers Meg Garrigal and Shannon Johnson had the day off as the Raiders were unable to get off any shots on goal.

Junior forward, Alyssa Ercolino scored a hat trick as Shore shutout Mater Dei 7 to 0 and took one step closer to their 40th straight divisional title.

Hannah Barreca scored 2 goals and an assist and Erin Giles and Gina Ruscil each had single tallies as Shore jumped out to a 4 to 0 halftime lead. Shore goalies Meg Garrigal and Shannon Johnson had an easy day as the Shore defense gave up no shots on goal. The young Shore offense had 30 shots on goal as they pressured the Seraphs defense from the opening whistle.

The Blue Devils have scored 48 goals on the year while only yielding 2 and have recorded seven shutouts. Shore continues its conference games with a 2:00 game at Keyport on Saturday and a home match vs Henry Hudson on Monday.

Juniors, Heidi Schaffner and Alyssa Ercolino stepped up to help Shore to its 6th shutout and 8th win overall, as they downed Group 4 Freehold Township 3 to 0.

After 20 minutes of midfield play Shore broke into the scoring column when Hannah Barreca fed freshman Carol Middough for the game winner at 21:05 In the second half it was Middough's turn to assist as she fed Alyssa Ercolino for a 2-0 lead at the36:30 mark. Sophomore Gina Ruscil assisted Middough at 45:36 to end the scoring.

The Blue Devils outshot the Patriots 18 to 7 and Sophomore Shannon Johnson recorded her 6th shutout with 6 saves. Shore remains number 1 in the Shore and number 5 in the state entering their 5th week of play. Shore can win its 40th straight divisional with 2 wins next week in the division.

After spotting Hudson an early goal the Shore Blue Devils scored 6 straight to rock the Admirals 6 to 1.Hannah Barreca scored a hat trick to bring her total to 14 on the short season as she led the young Shore team to their 3rd straight conference win. Shore remains the only undefeated team in B Central.

Junior, Alyssa Ercolono added 2 goals, one in each period and freshman Carol Middough added a goal and 2 assists as the Devils outshot their opponent 22 to 2. Keepers Shannon Johnson and Meg Garrigal were in goal for Shore and needed only 1 save to record the victory.

Shore has outscored their opponents 32 to 2 as the young defense has jelled quickly. Sophomore, Gina Ruscil played an outstanding game for Shore at right mid and Alyssa Ercolino was a workhorse on offense.

Shore took a giant step towards its 40th straight Conference Championship, by defeating undefeated St Rose 7 to 1. Junior mid,Hannah Barreca and freshman forward Carol Middough led the way for the young Blue Devils. Barreca had three goals and Middough scored 2 goals and 2 assists on the hot and humid afternoon.

Juniors Nicole Bocco and Alyssa Ercolino hustled on both ends of the field frustrating the Purple Roses all day. Ercolino and Sophomore Kara Casale added second half goals.

Shore gave up its first goal on the year as Shannon Johnson had 2 saves and senior Meg Garrigal had none. Shore outshot the Roses 15 to 3.

SHORE DOWNS KEYPORT IN CONFERENCE TILT

Freshman Carol Middough scored her first varsity hat trick, as Shore overpowered Keyport 8-0. It only took 42 seconds for Middough to weave her way through the Keyport defense and flick the ball into the back of the cage. Alyssa Ercolino and Hannah Barreca each aded a goal within the next 3 minutes to make the score 3-0. Erin Giles and Grace Santi had assists, and Middough added her second goal to make the score 4-0 at the half.

The second half was more of the same as Jillian McGhee scored just 2 minutes into the half on an assist from Erin Giles to make the score 5 to 0 and keep the game clock running for the rest of the game. Carol Middough scored her third goal of the game 5 minutes later and Barreca and Molly ONeill scored the final 2 goals off assists from ONeill and Santi.

Shore outshot the Raiders 19 to 1 with Shannon Johnson getting the lone save. Meg Garrigal added her touch infront of the cage to help Shore record their 3rd shutout of the season.

There are many changes to the Devil schedule with Mondays game with Mater Dei moved to 10am Saturday, and the Middletown North game moved from Oct 1 to September 30.

ONEILL SCORES HAT TRICK IN VARSITY DEBUT

Freshman forward Molly Oneill came off the bench to score a hat trick in her first varsity game as Shore blanked Jackson Liberty 8 to 0. Scoring the game winner was freshman Carol Middough18:33 into the game. ONeill, Hannah Barreca and Alyssa Ercolino tallied single goals to give the Blue Devils a 4 -0 halftime lead.

Shore's young devils continued to control the game scoring 4 more unanswered goals in a non conference tilt. The Devil defense held the visitors to no shots on goals as Shannon Johnson and Meg Garrigal spent the afternoon daydreaming in the cage.

Hustling from one end of the field to the other was sophomore mid Gina Ruscil and junior back Nicole Bocco, Shore had 3 freshman and 4 sophomore on the field and the defense was anchored by junior sweep Heidi Schaffner.

Shore opens up its conference defense tomorrow as they take on Keyport at 4 o'clock .

It only took a minute and ten seconds for Shore to make a statement about its new idenity as junior captain Hannah Barreca scored the only goal needed in a 4-0 win over South Plainfield. Barreca a mid, was omnipresent as she scored a second goal and handed out 2 assists for the day. Sophomore Kara Casale showed her touch as she was on the other end of Hannahs passes scoring her first 2 varsity goals.

Shannon Johnson, Shore's sophomore keeper, repelled the only 3 shots given up by the young Blue Devil defense. Shore outshot their opponent 15 to 3. Shore had a 22 to 5 advantage in penalty corners.

Hannah and Shannon are the only 2 returning starters for last years Group I State Champions. Getting their first start in the strong Blue Devil program was Freshman Grace Santi, Carol Middough, Sophs, Kara Casale, Morgan Jones, Gina Ruscil, juniors Alyssa Ercolino, Heidi Schaffner and Nicole Bocco and senior captain Erin Giles. Also seeing varsity time was captain Meg Garrigal and junior Jillian McGhee.

After a non conference tilt with Jackson on Tuesday, Shore starts its defense of its 39 straight conference titles with a home match bversus Keyport on Wednesday.

Shore remained the only undefeated team in the state as they downed Group II champion Madison Boro 4 to 2 to reach the finals of the Tournament of Champions.

Leading the offensive end was senior mid, Brenna Rescigno who scored 2 goals and an assist as Shore opened up a 2 to 1 halftime lead. Brenna scored her second goal, the game winner on a penalty stroke after a defender fouled on a sure goal 43 minutes into the game. Rescigno opened up the scoring at the 19 minute mark also on a penalty stroke before Shore scored its second goal by Aileen Johnson off a Rescigno assist with just 14 seconds left in the half.

Allegra Mango scored her 17th goal of the year on a Rachel Chavez assist at the 45th minute mark to seal Madison's fate.

Shore's defense bent but did not break as sophomore Hanah Barreca continually shut down Boro's attack.
The Blue Devils outshot the Dodgers 19 to 9 with freshman Shannon Johnson recording 3 saves.

Shore will meet Number one Eastern on Sunday at 1 oclock at Toms River East for Garden state bragging rights.

Shore dominated from start to finish endline to endline as they rolled to their 11th State Championship by beating Holy Cross 7 - 0.

Rachel Chavez got the game winner from an Aileen Johnson assist just 4 minutes into the contest and the goals kept on coming. By the time the Devil juggernaut was finished Aileen Johnson had scored 3 times to add to her assist, Rachel added another goal and Alex Carroll and Allegra Mango each tallied single scores. Brenna Rescigno, Rachel Chavez, Sarah Middough ans Allegra Mango all added assists on the day. Brenna has scored a goal or assist in all 21 of Shore's contests this year.

Shore outshot Holy Cross 18 to 2 with Shannon Johnson getting 1 save.

Shore will now play Group 2 champion Madison Wednesday at Hunterdon Central at 3:30

Take your pick of Aileen Johnson's first goal as she received and tucked the goal inside the left post or any of her defensive takes in the circle to break up Holy Cross's corners. She brought her "A" game with her this Sunday.

TURNING POINT

A Rescigno to Johnson pass at the 22 minute mark made it 3-0 and sealed Holy Cross's fate. Shore ramped up its game and rolled on from that point.

This honor goes to the 9 seniors who have spent 4 years running, lifting, doing drill after drill, making sacrifices but mostly for being great TEAM leaders and role models for the younger players around them. RESCIGNO LEADS SHORE TO FINALS

Senior mid Brenna Rescigno scored 4 goals to lead Shore to an 8-0 win over Pompton Lakes ( 20-2) and return to Sunday's Group Finals for the first time since 2002.

Brenna had the game winner on an assist from Alex Carroll and Aileen Johnson early in the first half. From that point on it was all Shore. Playing their best game of the year the Blue Devils scored seven more times as Shannon Johnson recorded her 12th shutout of the year.

Also scoring for Shore was senior back, Sarah Middough, sophomore mid Aileen Johnson (2 goals) and senior forward Allegra Mango. More details will be added later.

Brenna now has 44 goals on the year which is second in school history. The school record held by Amanda Arnold (02) with 49..

Shore will be playing for the Group I Championship, Sunday at 10am at Toms River East.

SETTLING THE SCORE

Shore Regional got its revenge by defeating Oak Knoll 2-0 and winning their 23 Sectional Championship. Sophomore mid Aileen Johnson got the game winner 2 minutes into the game and Brenna Rescigno added an insurance goal 12 minutes later. Its was Brennas 40th goal of the year.

The biggest plays of the game were delivered by the smallest player on the field. Freshman goalie Shannon Johnson came up big with 10 saves to send Shore to the state semi-final game against Pompton Lakes on Thursday.

Defensively Shore was pushed to the limit as they bent but did not break. Shore back Hannah Barreca was a defensive standout as her relentless defense continuously shutdown Oak Knoll's attack.

Shore is now 19 and 0 and recorded its 11th shutout on the season.

STATE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Shore made its debut in the 2009 State Tournament a successful one by defeating Saint Rose 3 to 1. Senior mid, Brenna Rescigno opened up the scoring just 1:47 into the game on a pass from Alex Carroll and Aileen Johnson.

5 minutes later senior, Rachel Chavez got the game winner on an unassisted goal. Sophomore Aileen Johnson added the third goal on an unassisted play just 14 minutes into the game.

SHORE TRIO COMMIT TO COLLEGES

Three Shore seniors have made oral committments to play Division I field hockey. Brenna Rescigno, Allegra Mango and Sarah Middough have verbally agreed to play hockey at Duke, Princeton and University of Pennsylvania respectively.

Game changing plays, they happen in every sport. Shore standout midfielder Brenna Rescigno provided such a moment with a diving defensive stick save that sparked the Blue Devi'ls to a 5 -0 win and its eleventh straight Shore Conference Championship.

Senior Sarah Middough got the game winner 17 minutes into the first half on a pass from Brenna Rescigno. It was the first of five goals for which defending group III state champs Wall Township had no answers.

Shore's juggernaut continued the onslaught with Rescigno getting the first of her 2 goals on a penalty stroke after Wall.s goalie was called for a flagrant pushing foul on the goal line. Next it was senior sparkplug Allegra Mango's turn as she found the back of the net 24 minutes into the half. Sophomore Aileen Johnson closed out the half with a goal off a pass from the omnipresent Rescigno to take a 4-0 halftime lead.

Rescigno closed out the scoring 46 minutes into the game with her second goal while the Blue Devils defense completely shut down any Wall attack.

Shore outshot Wall 22 to 4 with Shore's freshman keeper getting 3 saves for the win and her 9th shutout of the year.

Shore will now turn its sights to the states as they open up competition on Monday at 2pm.

Shore reaches eleventh straight final

Shore Regional will play in their 11th straight SCT championship on wednesday in a rematch of last years final. Shore earned the right with a 4 to 1 win over Rumson sending them against Wall who only has one loss on the year.

Shore scored first at the 7:32 mark when Brenna Rescigno passed to Ali Grandinetti who slammed it in the back of the net. Aileen Johnson got the game winner in the 19th minute on a pass from Rescigno. Rescigno then scored unassisted to open up the second half and Sarah Middough scored on a pass from Alex Carroll to round out the scoring.

Rumson scored with 14 minutes left in the game on their only shot. Shore outshot Rumson 20 to 1 as the Bulldogs played a defensive game. Shannon Johnson the Shore goalie had no saves.

Shore will travel to Central for a 3:00 game on Wednesday. Excellent defense was played by Katherine Bazley and Sarah Middough while Brenna Rescigno and Aileen Johnson controlled the midfield.

State brackets are up with Shore gaining a first round bye and playing the winner of St Rose /Keypory on MOnday November 2.

SHORE GAINS SEMIS FOR 11TH STRAIGHT YEAR

U ndefeated Shore Regional gained semi final status in the Shore Conference Tournament for the 11th straight year.

Sophomore Aileen Johnson started the scoring just 10:08 into the game on an assist from Brenna Rescigno. Senior Sarah Middough got the game winner 8 minutes later on a pass from alex Carroll. Brenna Rescigno added a third goal on a penalty stroke to give the Blue Devils a 3 - 0 lead.
Holmdel broke up the shutout with 2 seconds left in the half.

Coming out strong at the half Shore scored the prettiest goal of the season on a beautiful pass from senior Allegra Mango to senior Ali Grandinetti to put Shore up 4 to 1. Rescigno scored Shore's final goal on a pass from Alex Carroll to end the game 5 to 1.

Freshman Shannon Johnson had to saves for the Blue devils Shore outshot Holmdel 12 to 3.

Shore plays on Monday at 3:30 against Rumson for the right to play for their 11th straight SCT title.

Shore shuts down Freehold in SCT opener

Shore recorded its 8th shutout with a 6 -0 whitewashing of Freehold Township. Getting the game winner just 57 seconds into the game was senior forward Rachel Chavez on a pass from Allegra Mango. Shore made it 2 -0 with a Chavez to Alissa Ercolino pass and the sophomore forward slammed it home.

Brenna Rescigno had a hat trick wirh assists from Alex Carroll and Aileen Johnson, and Aileen added her own goal on an unassisted breakaway.

Shore outshot Freehold 32 to 2 with Shannon Johnson recording the 2 saves for her 8th shutout on the year.

Playing outstanding defense was senior Sarah Middough and sophomore Hannah Barreca.

Shore will be playing the Middletown South/ Holmdel winner at home at 3pm on Friday.

Sophomore mid Aileen Johnson scored 2 goals and added 2 assists to lead 12 and 0 Shore over Saint John Vianney in a non conference tilt. Aileen had the game winner at the 38 minute mark on a feed from Brenna Rescigno . Aileen also scored the first goal 13 minutes into the game,

Shore won the conference for the 39th straight year and was undefeated for the 35th time. Brenna Rescigno, Aileen Johnson and Allegra Mango scored as the Blue devils outshot the Bulldogs 22 to 4 winning 5 to 2

Brenna upped her total to 27 for the year as the Bulldogs had no answer for the talented senior headed for Duke. Johnson also chipped in 2 goals and had 2 assists and Allegra (Princeton) Mango added her 13th goal on the year. Rescigno and Mango also added assists.

Katherine Bazley, Rachel Chavez and Hannah Barreca came up big for the Devils on defense shutting down the Rumson attack.

RESILENCE : For all of you sports fans the mark of any good team is talent, fitness and on a day like today resilence. Unlucky, bad bounces, questionable calls, no calls but the Blue Devils hung tough and kept fighting. Rumson scored early but the Devils had an answer. SHORE CLINCHES 39TH STRAIGHT

Shore clinched its 39th straight division championship by beating MaterDei 10-0. Senior Brenna Rescigno scored 4 times bringing her season total to 25 as the Blue Devils shutout the Seraphs behind the goaltending of freshman Shannon Johnson and junior Meg Garrigal. It was Shores 7th shutout on the year.

Aileen Johnson added three goals, Allegra Mango added 2 goals and sophomore Hannah Barreca added a goal to bring Shores total to 79 while only allowing 3 in the first ten games. Rachel Chavez added 2 assists while Rescigno, Katie Cosentino and Mango all chipped in one assist apiece.

Shore outshot Mater Dei 25 to 5 with Shannon Johnson recording all 5 saves, including one spectacular over the head stick save while lying on the ground.

Shore has one more conference game before it can turn its sights on defending the SCT crown. Seeding for the SCT is Tuesday night. First round games start Friday and the round of 16 will commence on the 20th and 21st.

Shore Hands Peddie first loss

Shore led by the scoring of Brenna Rescigno and the defense of Sarah Middough and Aileen Johnson knocked Peddie from the ranks of the undefeated with a 4 to 1 victory.

Peddie playing very solid gave Shore its toughest game but the Devils were up to the task. Brenna Rescigno and Allegra Mango gave Shore a 3 0 halftime lead. Brenna scoring 8 minutes into the game off a feed from Hannah Barreca and Allegra had the game winner 13 minutes later on a pass from Sarah Middough. Brenna scored her 2nd goal of the game with a Johnson / Carroll assist to give Shore the lead.

The second half was an even battle with both teams scoring a goal. Peddie score first and then Brenna scored her 21st goal on a pass from Aileen one minute later.

Shores freshman keeper was outstanding in goal getting 9 saves on ten shots.

Aileen Johnson Sarah Middough and Katherine Bazley stepped up to shut down Peddie the rest of the way.

Shore finishes out its confernce schedule with Mater Dei on wed and Rumson on Friday. A win in either game will give shore the conference title for the 39th straight year.

Senior Brenna Rescigno and Sophomore Aileen Johnson lead undefeated Shore to an 8 -0 win over St Rose in a B Cental battle. With crisp passing and aggressive defense Shore outshot the Purple Roses 35 to 0 to give keepers Shannon Johnson and Meg Garrigal a day off.

Senior forward Allegra Mango got the game winner off a Johnson assist just 6:39 into the game. Johnson, the slick stickhandling mid added 2 more assists and 2 goals for the Blue Devils. Brenna Rescigno added three goals to bring her team leading total to 10 for the year. Seniors Sarah Middough and Ali Grandinetti also had goals for Shore to complete the scoring.

The Blue Devils have outscored their opponents 45 to 1 in the first 5 games.

Hannah Barrecca, Katie Cosentino and Sarah Middough: Shore's tough halfback line with speed, great anticipation and superb field vision have done a great job not only shutting down the opposistions attack but adding to Shore's numbers up on their offensive end.

Shore made a statement with 7 unanswered goals and limited Rumson to only 3 shots in a key B Central contest. SeniorAli Grandinetti scored the winning goal just 6 minutes into the game off a great pass from senior Allegra Mango. It was the first of 2 goals for the senior forward.

Five other players scored goals as Shore held a 5 0 lead at the half. Brenna Rescigno, Allegra Mango, Alissa Ercolino Hannah Barrecca and Alex Carroll all tallied single goals as Shore unleashed 30 shots on the previously unscored upon Bulldogs.

Shore had a 13 to 4 advantage in corners and freshman keeper Shannon Johnson rejected all three shots she faced.

Ali Grandinetti: 2 goals including winning goal and made it difficult for the bulldogs to defend her.

Brenna Rescigno: Had a goal and 3 assists displaying great stickwork that left many bulldogs playing catchup

Shore Regional has not lost a division Championship in 38 years and looks to make it 39 as they opened up their conference play with a 16 to 1 victory over the Red Raiders from Keyport. Senior Brenna Rescigno opened up the scoring with an assist from senior Sarah Middough just 8:38 into the game. It was the first of three goals for the 4 year starter. Senior forward Ali Grandinetti got the game winner 2 minutes later on a nice feed from senior Allegra Mango. Shore had an 8=0 lead at halftime giving Keyport no opportunities to score. Eight different players scored for Shore on the day .

The Blue Devils outshot the Raiders 35 to 1 and had an 18 to 1 advantage on corners. The lone bright spot for Keyport was the great defensive play by Stephanie Kaplan in goal. She recorded 20 saves.

On the road again....Shore finished up its last preseason scrimmage by traveling ( nice scheduling) to Lacey for a tri scrimmage. Led by Brenna Rescigno, Shores offense was overpowering. A stingy defense pushed the ball upfield scoring a 9=0 advantage in goals over Ocean and a 6=0 score over Lacey.

Shore is looking forward to starting the season this Friday as they travel to St Rose for the beginning of the 09 campaign.

There is a reason why you play scrimmages...find your weaknesses and work them out. Eastern was working on all cylinders as they downed Shore 4 to 1 with impressive passing on their turf. In all fairness to Shore 2 of the goals were scored early as Shore worked out their kinks of the 2 hour bus ride. The second half was a 1 1 tie and although there was no score Shore looked good on the 7 on 7 overtime.
